1. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to the VoxLib Android application (“VoxLib,” “the app”). VoxLib is developed and published by the developer identified on its Google Play listing (“we,” “us,” or “the developer”).
2. Information handled by VoxLib
Depending on the features you use, VoxLib may access or create:
- Audiobook files and archives that you select.
- Book titles, authors, descriptions, cover artwork, chapter information, and file metadata.
- Playback position, listening status, playback speed, bookmarks, and highlight clips.
- App preferences, including download-network, playback, appearance, backup, and equalizer settings.
- Backup files that you explicitly ask VoxLib to create.
This information is used to provide the feature you requested. The developer does not receive your library, listening history, bookmarks, highlights, or audio files.
3. Storage and file access
Copied audiobooks, covers, highlights, and the VoxLib database are stored in the app’s private storage. If you choose “Keep original location,” VoxLib stores a scoped Android document reference and reads the selected file from its existing location. VoxLib does not request unrestricted access to every file on your device.
The app may display an Android system file picker. A document or cloud provider, such as Google Drive, handles that picker and grants VoxLib access only to items you select. Linked originals remain controlled by that provider and may stop working if they are moved, deleted, disconnected, or if permission is revoked.
4. Optional online features and third parties
VoxLib connects to the internet only when needed for a feature you choose, including:
| Feature | Service or recipient | Information sent |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog and metadata search | LibriVox, Internet Archive, and Open Library | Search terms such as a book title or author, plus ordinary network information. |
| Cover and audiobook downloads | The selected catalog service or URL host | The requested URL and ordinary network information. |
| Cloud files and backups | The storage provider you select through Android | Only the files you choose to open, import, save, back up, or restore. |
| Sharing | The app or person you select in Android’s share sheet | The audiobook, archive, or highlight you explicitly choose to share. |
These third parties may receive standard connection data such as your IP address, request time, and device or user-agent information. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies. VoxLib does not control those services.
The optional Venmo support button opens Venmo or its website. VoxLib does not send your library information to Venmo. Information is handled by Venmo only after you choose to open or interact with that service.
5. Data collection, selling, and advertising
- VoxLib does not require an account.
- VoxLib does not include advertising, behavioral tracking, or analytics SDKs.
- The developer does not sell or rent user information.
- The developer does not operate a server that receives your audiobook library or listening history.
6. Backups
VoxLib’s manual backup feature creates an archive only after you request it. Depending on your choices, that archive may contain settings, library records, playback progress, bookmarks, highlights, covers, and audiobook files. You choose where the archive is saved. If you choose a cloud destination, that provider’s terms and privacy policy apply.
Android’s system backup or device-transfer feature may back up VoxLib settings when it is enabled on your device. VoxLib excludes its audiobook library and path-based database from Android cloud backup; use VoxLib’s manual backup if you want to preserve the full library.
7. Notifications and background operations
VoxLib uses visible Android foreground-service notifications for audiobook playback, user-started imports and backups, and user-started M4B creation. Notifications show the operation and provide relevant playback, pause, or cancel controls. These services do not create a separate developer-operated data collection channel.
8. Retention and deletion
Local library information remains on your device until you delete it in VoxLib, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. Deleting a copied, VoxLib-managed book removes its managed files and database records. Removing a linked book removes the VoxLib record but does not delete the original external file.
Shared files and backup archives remain wherever you saved or sent them until you delete them from that destination. Third-party providers may retain information according to their own policies.
9. Security
VoxLib uses Android app-private storage, scoped document access, and platform sharing and notification controls to limit access. Network connections to built-in catalog services use HTTPS. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure, so keep your device and any exported backups protected.
10. Children’s privacy
VoxLib is not directed to children under 13 and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not provide accounts, social features, advertising, or developer-operated profiling.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when VoxLib’s features or legal obligations change. The date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are published. Material changes will be reflected in the app or its store listing when appropriate.
12. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, use the developer contact information shown on VoxLib’s Google Play listing. Please do not include audiobook files or other sensitive content in your message.
